We Maxwell Go There: part 1

John_maxwell John Maxwell recently visited the Philippines to promote his newest book entitled "Your Roadmap For Success". Disguised in a three-hour program designed to look like a seminar, the Royale Homes Marketing Corporation went to the event. Though I must admit, I was rather disappointed that there were more "thank yous" by the people who organized the program than talk from the world-renowned author. I felt relieved, however, when they finally introduced him. He talked of several things but mostly on how one should live one’s life properly. For those who have wondered what it’s like to go into one of John Maxwell’s seminars, here’s a sneak peek.

Roadmap_book_1SUCCESS IS…

1. Knowing one’s purpose in life–If you think about it, successful people are those who have a passion for doing whatever it is that they’re doing.

"People who are successful know why they are here on this earth."

This statement might prompt you to ask–"how do I discover my purpose?" Consider the following:

-One must realize that passion leads to purpose. We are all wired to love what we are supposed to be doing. You should ask yourself: Where does your passion lead you? Where is your passion?

-Where there is passion, there is energy. Take a look around you. Notice the way people behave with more energy when they do the things that they actually enjoy. So if you really think about it, those people aren’t really working when they do what they do. They are actually getting paid to enjoy themselves.

-What am I good at? What do I do well? All our lives we have been taught by everyone around us to try and improve on what we can’t do well. In all practical purposes, we do this at school in order to be well-rounded individuals. On a more practical point of view, we do it because we are being graded and we do not want a failing mark in any of our subjects. Unfortunately, what we do not realize that as soon as we do graduate we should stop thinking this way.

-Stop working on your weakness and concentrate on the things that you do well. John Maxwell cites the fact that if we live our lives working on our weaknesses, the most improvement we’ll achieve is just by two to three levels up. Think about it, all this time you have spent your life trying to be better at something you’re really bad at. If you practice your weak zones you just become consistent in being bad.

-Nobody pays for average. We all work for a living. For the most of it, we are all undergo the daily grind to improve our way of life. Don’t you find yourself sometimes demanding for only the best that life has to offer. Therefore from this moment on, you should be the best you are in order to deserve the best.

-Find your strengths and passion. Your purpose in life lies somewhere in your strength zone.

ABS-CBN…Credible…GET REAL!

President I was chatting with a friend from Poland yesterday and as we were conversing, she sent me a news item which appeared in Yahoo. The news article stated that “the entire Malacañang press corps was dismayed with the way the presidential staff conducted the press conference.”

I was rather puzzled how these reporters could have said that. I had watched the meeting the night before on NBN Channel 4 and I saw no irregularities. President Arroyo’s answers to the questions were concise and straight to the point. As could be expected, there were reporters who asked truly pertinent questions and there were really stupid outcasts from dumb networks and newspapers. One reporter from DZMM – the AM radio station of ABS-CBN channel 2 asked one of the most moronic questions you could imagine…

“As you alighted from your helicopter and was walking through the way towards the doorway of the Batasan Pambansa you were greeted by house speaker Jose de Venecia and Senate President Franklin Drilon. (Drilon having openly expressed his wishes for President Arroyo to resign.) What did you feel as you shook his hand? What went through your mind?”

The president just turned to her and said: “At this point, as the nation is undergoing such a turning point, it is not important how I feel. What is important is how we, as one country can join efforts in propelling the country forward.”

Undeterred by the president’s answer to the question, the ABS-CBN reporter continued to ask another ridiculous question—as if she had not studied journalism and exercised her mind to think quickly. She proceeds: “Madam President, after your State of the Nation Address, we noticed that you paused and during the ovation, your eyes seemed to well-up. What was going through your mind?”

Once again, the president looked at her and said: “As I told you a while ago, my feelings at this point are not important.”

After briefly reviewing this in my head, I proceeded to read the Yahoo news article. According to a certain “ABS-CBN” reporter that the “entire press corps felt that the president’s answers did not satisfy their standards.” Okay, let’s just get one thing straight. I hardly think that one (as in single moron) does not constitute the entire population of a crowded room. To be perfectly honest about it, I don’t even think that ABS-CBN reporters are even supposed to be allowed inside Malacañang grounds.

If you remember, few years ago, in a huge television event, the country was witness to the marriage of two influential families: the daughter of Joseph Estrada (in jail for plunder charges) and the son of the owner of ABS-CBN channel 2. It was a match made to protect the interest of the rich and powerful few and keep all the stupid people in our great but overly gullible nation in the dark. Naturally, the only thing that this network will only report about the government is just the bad stuff. Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want your father-in-law at odds with you. Who would?

On another note, why keep asking the same question to a person over and over again? I mean, wasn’t the answer clear enough for you? How stupid these ABS-CBN reporters are! Has employment to such a company clouded their judgment on the difference between a sensible answer and an answer from the showbiz industry?

“oh we’re just friends…non-showbiz, kuya Boy…I felt betrayed” Are these the only things these so-called reporters from this network understand? HOW STUPID!
