ABS-CBN…Credible…GET REAL!

President I was chatting with a friend from Poland yesterday and as we were conversing, she sent me a news item which appeared in Yahoo. The news article stated that “the entire Malacañang press corps was dismayed with the way the presidential staff conducted the press conference.”

I was rather puzzled how these reporters could have said that. I had watched the meeting the night before on NBN Channel 4 and I saw no irregularities. President Arroyo’s answers to the questions were concise and straight to the point. As could be expected, there were reporters who asked truly pertinent questions and there were really stupid outcasts from dumb networks and newspapers. One reporter from DZMM – the AM radio station of ABS-CBN channel 2 asked one of the most moronic questions you could imagine…

“As you alighted from your helicopter and was walking through the way towards the doorway of the Batasan Pambansa you were greeted by house speaker Jose de Venecia and Senate President Franklin Drilon. (Drilon having openly expressed his wishes for President Arroyo to resign.) What did you feel as you shook his hand? What went through your mind?”

The president just turned to her and said: “At this point, as the nation is undergoing such a turning point, it is not important how I feel. What is important is how we, as one country can join efforts in propelling the country forward.”

Undeterred by the president’s answer to the question, the ABS-CBN reporter continued to ask another ridiculous question—as if she had not studied journalism and exercised her mind to think quickly. She proceeds: “Madam President, after your State of the Nation Address, we noticed that you paused and during the ovation, your eyes seemed to well-up. What was going through your mind?”

Once again, the president looked at her and said: “As I told you a while ago, my feelings at this point are not important.”

After briefly reviewing this in my head, I proceeded to read the Yahoo news article. According to a certain “ABS-CBN” reporter that the “entire press corps felt that the president’s answers did not satisfy their standards.” Okay, let’s just get one thing straight. I hardly think that one (as in single moron) does not constitute the entire population of a crowded room. To be perfectly honest about it, I don’t even think that ABS-CBN reporters are even supposed to be allowed inside Malacañang grounds.

If you remember, few years ago, in a huge television event, the country was witness to the marriage of two influential families: the daughter of Joseph Estrada (in jail for plunder charges) and the son of the owner of ABS-CBN channel 2. It was a match made to protect the interest of the rich and powerful few and keep all the stupid people in our great but overly gullible nation in the dark. Naturally, the only thing that this network will only report about the government is just the bad stuff. Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want your father-in-law at odds with you. Who would?

On another note, why keep asking the same question to a person over and over again? I mean, wasn’t the answer clear enough for you? How stupid these ABS-CBN reporters are! Has employment to such a company clouded their judgment on the difference between a sensible answer and an answer from the showbiz industry?

“oh we’re just friends…non-showbiz, kuya Boy…I felt betrayed” Are these the only things these so-called reporters from this network understand? HOW STUPID!
